Meet Kerrick Henny, Principal

Kerrick Henny is a principal with Texas Star Alliance. Mr. Henny has extensive business and policy experience and has worked with a broad range of stakeholder groups, including legislators, agency leaders and other policy makers at the local, state, and federal level. He has vast experience in telecommunications and technology, having served as the Senior Vice President for External Affairs (Texas), with AT&T. AT&T Inc. is a diversified, global leader in telecommunications, media and entertainment, and technology that provides products and services to more than 100 million U.S. consumers.
He began his professional career in politics at a very young age, working for Texas State Legislators, the Texas Attorney General’s Office and has worked on numerous complicated business and policy issues for the last 30 years, demonstrates his ability to provide winning solutions for his clients. After working for the Texas Attorney General’s Office he joined AT&T in 1996, and was based in Houston, Texas. He was promoted to multiple management positions during his career including in 2008 when he was selected to serve as the company’s Executive Director for National Public Affairs in Washington, D.C. At that time, AT&T was involved in many important policy issues that would affect customers across the country. Mr. Henny returned to Texas in 2010 as the SVP of External Affairs and was based once again in Houston.
Mr. Henny has served in many leadership roles during his career. To date, he is the longest-serving Chairman of the Greater Houston Partnership’s Government Relations Advisory Committee, and his Board participation has included the Greater Houston United Way, the Greater Houston Partnership, Texas NAACP Corporate Advisory Board, Texas Business Hall of Fame, Houston Area Urban League, Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce, Greater Houston Black Chamber of Commerce, Houston’s UNCF, and the Julia C. Hester House.
Mr. Henny has also received many acknowledgements for his contributions to the community and multiple non-profit organizations operating in Texas. For example, he was named by the Texas Legislative Black Caucus as Outstanding Texan of the year and the Houston Friends of Friends Network named him Positive Male Role Model of the Year. Mr. Henny is a Houston native and graduated from the University of Houston, he’s also a graduate of Leadership Houston and Center for Houston’s Future. He has been married to his wife, Adrienne, for 21 years and they have a son, Kristopher.
