Kris Parker, Government Affairs Specialist
Kris Parker is a Government Affairs Specialist with Texas Star Alliance and VP of Membership and Education for the Association of Rural Communities in Texas (ARCIT). In this role, she primarily focuses on policy research and analysis, as well as client development and association work.
Prior to joining ARCIT, she served as Deputy District Director for Congressman Michael T. McCaul in his Austin, TX district office for over eleven years. Her previous experience includes developing and maintaining working relationships with constituents and governmental entities, as well as managing and performing constituent service.
Her experience includes over 20 years of work within the public sector ranging from the Texas State Legislature to State Agency Administration and the U.S. House of Representatives. She has extensive experience in alliance building and garnering support to build consensus.
Kris began her career as a policy analyst for then-state senator, Tom Haywood. She also was the clerk for Texas Senate Agriculture Committee, in which she was responsible for drafting and garnering support legislative for the first state Agriculture Policy. Kris also served as Government Relations Director for the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board, and the Texas Residential Construction Commission.
Kris is a member of the National Charity League and in 2018 served as Chair of the Round Rock ISD Bond Committee which passed a $508 million bond proposition. Kris was born and raised in La Grange, Texas. She has been married to her husband, Mark, for 19 years and they have three children.
