Megan Herring is an Associate at Texas Star Alliance. She has worked on several policy issues including elections, public education, health care, licensing regulation, local government, and appropriations. She is responsible for managing clients’ bills through the legislative process, coordinating directly with elected officials, legislative staff, and stakeholders. Megan has 6 years of experience leading policy efforts and representing a significant docket of clients, including two top 60 Fortune 500 companies, city governments, chambers of commerce, and healthcare companies. Megan works alongside Founding and Managing Principal, John R. Pitts.
Megan is also the Director of the Internship Program for the firm, managing every aspect of intern recruitment and oversight. She has a passion for mentoring and creating a meaningful experience for each intern that will serve as a steppingstone in their career path.
Megan gained experience in public policy during her internship with the Health and Human Services Commission. As the Policy and Procedures Coordinator with the Emergency Response Division, she gained experience in government affairs, program development, and budget planning. During her time with the agency, she was an ambassador of the Repatriation Program, which helps place U.S. Citizens back in the United States after becoming destitute overseas. She served as the liaison between both state and federal agencies. Megan was also serving as an intern during the West Disaster in 2012 where she assisted with disaster implementation planning. Megan graduated from Texas State in May of 2013 with a degree in Health and Wellness Promotion.
Megan is proud to be raised in San Antonio, Texas and currently resides in Austin with her Great Dane, Barnaby.
