Taylor Sims is an Associate at Texas Star Alliance. Taylor has worked the last decade in Texas politics, policy, and private sector advocacy, business management and strategy development roles. She started her career in the Texas Capitol serving a State Representative then in the Executive Office of House Speaker, Joe Straus.

Following her time in the Texas Capitol, Taylor sharpened her policy and politics experience in the private sector, specializing in healthcare reimbursement, regulatory and legislative affairs. As the Director of Government Affairs and Strategic Initiatives for a large national provider of post-acute healthcare services, she advised leadership regarding the effects of legislative and regulatory proposals in Texas and Washington DC, directed grassroots advocacy and fundraising, and coordinated legislative communication and issue resolution. Taylor worked directly with policymakers on the development, implementation, then corporate strategy for moving to Medicaid Managed Care, Medicaid supplemental reimbursement programs, and Medicare Alternative Payment Models.

Most recently, Taylor served as the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships for a Texas healthcare provider supporting the acquisition and development of new facilities along with the overall corporate growth strategy, leading strategic business development in current and emerging markets, overseeing alignment and contracting in Medicaid, Medicare, and Alternative Payment Models, and managing government and association relations on behalf of the organization. Taylor is passionate about work that brings together providers with policy makers to ensure high quality, accessible, and affordable healthcare across Texas and the country.

In her personal life, Taylor has been a member of the Anti-Defamation League, participating in the Glass Leadership Institute, a program designed to cultivate effective leaders and advocates on behalf of the mission to defend democratic ideals and protect civil rights for all. In addition, she has served as a Co-Chair of the Maverick PAC that works to engage new generations of politically interested young professionals in politics. Taylor is originally from San Antonio, Texas, a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, and proud member of the Texas Exes.
