Megan Mauro is a Principal at Texas Star Alliance. Megan uses her years of experience in government affairs to further her clients’ policy agendas, increase their profile across her network of public and private sector leaders, and better navigate Texas government.
Immediately prior to re-joining Texas Star Alliance Megan spent six years at the Texas Association Business, the State Chamber of Commerce. During her tenure at TAB, Megan served in several roles with increasing responsibility including Policy Manager, Executive Vice President and ultimately Interim President and CEO, reflecting her leadership and impact on the organization. She played a central role in executing TAB's strategic vision, leading major initiatives on behalf of the Texas business community and strengthening the association's influence as the state's leading voice for employers.
Megan has led high-profile policy and advocacy efforts across economic development, workforce development, tax policy, technology, artificial intelligence, infrastructure, and regulatory issues. She is particularly recognized for her expertise in technology and innovation policy and her ability to convene business leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders around complex issues shaping Texas' economic future.
At TAB, Megan launched the Tech Means Business Coalition and the Chamber Advocacy Coalition, two statewide initiatives designed to strengthen collaboration among employers, chambers of commerce, policymakers, and industry leaders on issues critical to Texas' long-term growth and prosperity.
Her leadership and contributions have earned statewide recognition, including being named Association Champion of the Year by USLege and serving as Co-Chair of the Texas Jobs Council, appointed by Governor Greg Abbott. Before joining TAB, Megan began her career at Texas Star Alliance, where she worked directly with founder John R. Pitts. John provided Megan with her first opportunity in Texas public affairs and played an important role in shaping her early career. She is honored to return to the firm where her public policy career began.
Megan holds a Bachelor of Science in Health and Wellness Promotion from Texas State University and lives in Austin with her husband, Kyle.
