Eric Knustrom has over 20 years of legal experience ranging from litigation to legislative drafting.  Eric currently uses his legal talents to bring form and substance to the public policy arena.  An expert in legislative drafting and research, he works with legislators, stakeholders and the legislative council to craft meaningful legislation that brings policy to practice.

Eric began his legal career providing instruction in legal research at the University of Texas School of Law and St. Mary’s School of Law for LexisNexis. Eventually, Eric was responsible for overseeing over 32 law schools in the Northeast United States for LexisNexis.  During this time he gained invaluable experience working with some of the greatest legal minds of our time. Eric’s background in legislative history research and statutory construction and interpretation from this time is invaluable in his current work with the Legislature.

After leaving LexisNexis Eric’s practice focused on general commercial litigation and eDiscovery for large scale litigation matters until he found his way to his current legislative practice.  His practice now focuses on consulting clients on their lobbying, ethics and government affairs needs.  Eric represents non-profit associations, commercial interests, and individuals before the Texas Legislature and state agencies, as well as providing legal advice on issues regarding compliance and bill implementation.

Eric grew up in Clifton, Texas in the heart of Central Texas before attending Sam Houston State University on a debate scholarship.  He graduated from SHSU with bachelors of arts in Political Science and Speech Communications.  After Sam he attended law school at the University of Texas School of Law and was licensed in Texas in 2001.

Eric currently lives just outside of Austin in Dripping Springs with his wife Lyne and son Barrett. When not roaming the halls of the Capitol, he has a passion for helping homeless pets and playing golf badly.
